This original 90x90cm canvas is part of the ‘5am’ Collection.
A collection of abstract fluid paintings portraying the thoughts & feelings of early Motherhood. The newborn days. When you’re up at 5am & feel like you’re the only one awake, even though millions of woman are awake with you feeding their child.
‘My Lonely Nights’ was painted by Sarah during the week when her 6 month old sat contently in his highchair trying a selection of weaning foods she had freshly prepared earlier that morning. Sarah’s husband had gone back to work after a year in Lockdown. His work is in Italy & France meaning he stays away 4 nights a week. This shift in parenting had a huge & significant impact on Sarah, both physically & mentally. During the previous night, Sarah wandered downstairs at 1am & 5am in the dark of the night to attend to Albert’s milk preparation. It felt so oddly quiet, yet she could still hear the soft cries of a hungry baby upstairs. She was lonely, yet she had everything she had ever wanted. The navy river of paint represented the sadness felt when her husband was away; sat amongst the angelic whites & greys of her beautiful role as a Mother.
All pieces from this series are limited edition original mixed media acrylic paintings on premium canvas.
Each piece has been hand painted by Sarah using a mixture of acrylic, resin paints and mixed media to create shine & texture.
Please note that, each piece is an authentic piece of original artwork. There is only 1 edition of this piece of art. Once 1/1 of each piece has sold these pieces will not be remade; Sarah can try to recreate a similar piece on a custom order.
