The story behind the art
This original 60x60cm canvas was created for my art agent to sell in galleries. I requested them back in my studio as I wanted to use them as studies for new works. There are 3 of these available, each representing a gemstone, all with resin coating to give a hard, thick, glass finish.
‘Amethyst’ picks out all the colours and tones seen in an Amethyst gemstone. Amethyst derives its name from the Greek word ‘ametusthos’ which means ‘not intoxicated’. For centuries, Amethyst has been thought to be useful in the prevention of overindulgence. In Feng Shui, the meaning of Amethyst is focused on the wealth enhancement. It was also used in ancient China as a powerful tool to clear negative energy and drive away the hazards of everyday life. This is a real statement piece in a luxurious interior.
All pieces from this series are limited edition original mixed media acrylic paintings on premium canvas.
